The main function of the Association is to provide a forum for ex-pupils and staff to keep in contact with each other. The Association aims to run at least one function during the school year at Farlington to bring alumni together in a social context where they can exchange personal news and re-kindle relationships. A Newsletter is produced around Christmas time each year giving news contributed by ex-staff and pupils. Alumni can also join a dedicated website in order to keep up to date with the School and each other. The contact for the Association is Rita Monk through monkr@farlingtonschool.net

Reunion Lunch at Farlington School

21 ex-pupils, who had attended the school in the mid-sixties, met together at Farlington for a buffet lunch on Thursday, 10th September. The reunion was arranged by Georgina Nienstaedt, who was a pupil and has now become a governor, and organised by Rita Monk, who runs the Farlington Association.

The day began with tours of the school buildings, guided by girls in the present Lower Sixth form, followed by a group photograph with headmistress, Mrs Jonnie Goyer. Lunch was served in the Meeting Room which was headmistress Mrs Effie Simpson’s sitting-room in the sixties.  As some of the women had not been back to the school since their days as a pupil, when most of them were boarders, the changes were far-reaching and they were envious of the facilities offered to the present day girls and boarders.

Farlington Association Reunion Lunch

Farlington Association Reunion Lunch held in London on Friday, 20th June 2008

64 people attended the Reunion Lunch which was held at the University Women’s Club in Audley Square.  Most of these were previous pupils, but there was also a representative selection of previous and present staff.  These included present Headmistress Jonnie Goyer and Assistant Head, Jim Stearns, and previous Headmistress, Trina Mawer and Deputy Head, Celia Stanton.   The ex-pupils ranged from those leaving school in the 1940s to those who had left during the past few years and were still at university.

The Club provided a delicious 3-course lunch, served in the Library, while the pre-lunch bar operated from outside the Drawing-room, giving guests the opportunity to chat and establish contacts before the meal.  Following the meal, coffee and tea were served in the Drawing Room, again giving people a chance to meet their contemporaries.
