Farlington has an exceptional sense of enjoyment for life and learning. This is education in its most liberating form. We have a culture of achievement reaching far beyond excellent academic results. We always have time for laughter, time for activity and time for creative self-expression.

Our girls enjoy a huge range of activities only some of which are illustrated below (Click on News for details of recent events).

Sport
We want all girls to enjoy sport and to maintain their interest beyond their time at School. They play competitively and just for fun. Girls compete in local, regional and national competitions in hockey, netball, cross-country, swimming and riding. Farlington hosts a number of tournaments each year. In recognition of its PE and Sports programme, Farlington has held the coveted SPORTSMARK award for over 7 years. In addition to traditional sports we offer courses in self-defence, golf and fencing. For those girls who want to keep fit rather than pursue competitive sport we offer ‘Sport For All’.

Drama
Girls grow in confidence and awareness through drama-related activity. It is an important part of their development into articulate and self-possessed young women. Every year in the Senior School we have two major drama productions, GCSE and A Level showcase performances and extravaganza evenings organised by the girls themselves. The School has its own fully equipped performance studio. Performing Arts Day early in the Autumn Term sees every girl perform enthusiastically to the entire School and has a wonderful community spirit.

Eco
Farlington girls care about the environment and are proud of the School’s eco status. Each form group chooses an eco-warrior and new initiatives, such as textile recycling, energy audit and waste reduction are enthusiastically embraced.

(Please see the Friends section of the website for further details)

Music
Farlington is alive with the sound of music. There are choirs, orchestras and ensembles. Talented musicians have many opportunities to perform in public, both in School and outside, to a very high level and our regular Music Makers’ Concerts allow any musician to perform, whatever their stage of musical development, in a warm, friendly and supportive environment.

Trips
Trips, both within the UK and abroad, enhance our curricular provision, provide exciting cultural opportunities and are fun! These range from visits to WWI battlefields to shopping in the Christmas markets in Cologne; from adventure holidays in France to skiing in USA; from modern language exchange visits to business studies in Milan; from individual World Challenge expeditions to group Wilderness Trust treks in Africa.

Duke of Edinburgh
The School strongly supports the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Every year many girls take part at all three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
