The main bursary award process is carried out in the first half of the Spring Term and applications, therefore, should be made in the second half of the preceding Autumn Term.
Subject to available funds, applications for bursaries will be considered at other times of the year, on a half-termly basis if parental circumstances change unexpectedly.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships are awarded on merit. There is no automatic fee reduction for scholarship awards; instead there is an automatic study support grant of £100 per term in Years 7-11, payable directly to the Scholar. This increases to £200 per term at Sixth Form. Scholarships will be held for the duration of the girl’s time at Farlington, subject to annual review.
There will be an enrichment programme for, and public recognition of, Scholars, and all girls who maintain their scholarships until they leave after A Levels will be further acknowledged at their final Prize Giving.
Scholarships are available at three points of entry in the Senior School:
Entry into Year 7: Examination in January Academic, Art, Drama, Music and Sport Scholarships are available. Both internal and external candidates need to apply for all subject Scholarships. Candidates should be registered and entered by the last Friday in the preceding November. All external girls who sit the Entrance Examination in January will automatically be considered for Academic Scholarships so there is no need to apply for these. Internal candidates applying for Academic Scholarships need to apply in consultation with the Prep School Headmistress.
Entry into Year 9: Examination in January Academic, Art, Drama, Music and Sport Scholarships are available to both internal and external candidates who will need to apply in all cases. Candidates should be registered and entered by the last Friday in the preceding November.
Entry into the Sixth Form: Examination in November Academic, Music, Drama, Sport and Art Scholarships are available to both internal and external candidates who will need to apply in all cases. Candidates should be registered and entered by the first Monday in November as the assessment will take place later that month.
