Butser Ancient Farm
On Tuesday 5th March Prep 3 had a wonderful day at Butser Ancient Farm, making the most of the first warm day of Spring! The trip came at the start of Prep 3's new History topic on the Celts and the girls enjoyed sitting in one of their reconstructed thatched roundhouses to learn about everyday life for Celtic people. The day was very busy with a range of practical activities, including making thumb pots from clay, digging for artefacts, making a wattle fence section from long hazel sticks and getting very messy crushing chalk with a mallet and then mixing it with earth and water to make clunch. The whole topic was brought vividly to life and gave the girls a great start to their studies on this historical period.
