The Globe

On a cold, snowy morning Prep 6 girls set off to The Globe Theatre to see for themselves how different Shakespeare’s theatre would have been from modern theatres.  They were obviously not disappointed judging by the ‘oohs’ and ‘ahh’s as they walked through the doors into the ‘groundlings’ space and then sampled the thin, hard wooden benches of spectators. Having participated in a workshop exploring the influences on Macbeth, the play they are studying in school at the moment, the girls then performed some sketches on the Globe’s stage, a moment to be remembered for ever.  The exhibition was also a highlight, learning about the archaeological discovery of the original Globe’s location and its subsequent reconstruction.
