Morrisons Visit

On Tuesday 10th January 2012, Prep 2 went to Reigate to visit the supermarket Morrisons as part of their ‘Food Around the World’ topic.  Firstly, we visited the in-store bakery, where the girls were able to help to ice cakes and find out about how all the different types of bread are made by the early morning staff who arrive at 5 am. The girls had the opportunity to help add the ‘cross’ to a batch of Hot Cross Buns and see them put into a huge oven. We visited the refrigerated delivery area and also had the chance to stand in the walk-in freezer which was extremely cold!  It was interesting to learn where all the fruits and vegetables in the fresh produce department came from and we discovered they are mainly imported from the Southern hemisphere!  After a quick snack, we headed into Reigate town centre to take a tally of the different types of restaurant in the High Street as part of our maths data handling; we found there were 25 restaurants in all.
