Open Events - OLD not used
Open Events provide an excellent opportunity to fully understand all that Farlington offers and to soak up the atmosphere from Nursery through to the Sixth Form. Each event is tailored to meet specific needs (please see below for more details) but all will enable both prospective parents and pupils to get a real flavour of the school.
To register for any Open Event, or to arrange a personal tour of Farlington at a mutually convenient time, please contact Mrs Jo Coveney, Registrar on 01403 282573 or by email on firstname.lastname@example.org
Open Morning on Saturday 20th September will provide prospective parents and pupils alike the opportunity to meet both the Headmistress, Ms Louise Higson and the Prep Headmistress, Mrs Frances Mwale, to gain a fuller understanding of all that Farlington represents and has to offer. We have a strong sense of community, value individuality, celebrate diversity and encourage girls to have the confidence to think for themselves, whilst emphasising the importance of tolerance, teamwork and collective responsibility. Our academic results are impressive, and girls (as well as boys in our Nursery) are offered a wide variety of activities as part of, and in addition to, the curriculum. Music, Art, Drama and Sport are all an important part of school life and provide every opportunity for success.
On Open Morning you will hear more about our ethos, have an extensive tour of our campus, have the opportunity to meet teaching staff across the age range and curriculum, so that you really get a feel from pupils as well as staff, of how your daughter (or son in our Nursery) could benefit from all that Farlington provides.
The Sixth Form Open Evening on 23rd September gives girls the opportunity to talk to subject tutors and current students about possible choices for AS, A level and beyond. This can be the most important decision students make, and we want to be able to help them make an informed decision about their Sixth Form career. The evening is quite informal which gives the girls the chance to find out what each subject will cover and where it could lead after A levels. If students do not have a particular career path in mind we can suggest some areas which will play to their strengths and will, hopefully, gain them top grades and open doors to university or their future career path.
The Sixth Form at Farlington is about more than academic success although this is the priority as it gives the girls choices for their future. There is lots more on offer: the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, opportunities to take part in sport, music and drama, leadership positions, volunteering, Young Enterprise and True Adventure to name but a few. We actively encourage the girls to take the initiative, try new ventures and to take (safe) risks so they push themselves in an environment which will support and guide them. We want them to do well and will celebrate each success with them.
Come along to the Open Evening to see if Farlington is for you.
