Senior Sports Day

It was another exciting House Athletics Day at Farlington on Monday 2nd July. All girls took part in a least one event, with many girls taking part in a number of disciplines to secure points for their house. The field events ran smoothly, with two new school records being set. Alexandra Malzer set a new javelin record of 17.90m and Tamsin Campbell jumped 4.58 in the long jump smashing a decade-long record of 4.52m.

The excitement of the relays got everyone up on their feet and cheering for their houses. The girls enjoyed watching the Sixth Form students battle it out against the staff in the 8 x 50 metre relay, with the added help of Old Girl, Rhiannon Dunlop, who was helping the PE department (so technically a member of staff!) The staff team beat the Sixth Form with room to spare! The highlight of the day had to be the egg and spoon relay race. I am positive that many girls will remember for years to come the sight of their headmistress running around the astro turf clasping an enormous spoon with an egg balanced on top of it!

The overall winners of the day were Curie House with 219 points, followed by Cavell in 2nd place with 204 points, then
only one place behind with 203 points was Cable, leaving Cheshire in 4th place with 145 points.
