Prep Admissions Procedure (Prep 3 – Prep 6)
Please find below details of how to apply for a place in the Prep School for your daughter.
Farlington holds several Open Days, organised throughout the School year. We strongly recommend that you and your daughter come and see the School, which will give you the opportunity to speak to the staff and ask any questions you may have. However, if the dates for the Open Days are not suitable, tours are conducted personally by Mrs Joy Baggs, Head of the Prep School. The usual age of entry to the Prep School is 7+, although girls may enter at a later stage, dependent upon a place being available and the entry requirements being met.
In order to be considered for entry, parents are required to complete a Registration Form, which should be sent to the Registrar, together with a non-refundable registration fee of £80. Once this has been received, your daughter’s name will be added to the Provisional Admissions List and details regarding the schedule for your daughter’s assessment will be sent to you.
Assessments are carried out in January. Those who cannot attend the Assessment Day will be offered the opportunity to sit the entrance papers at other times throughout the year.
Assessment requirements by Year Group:
Year 3
Entry to Prep 3 is by family interview and the result of an informal assessment with the class teacher, within a classroom environment. This can take place during a Taster Day or in January during the School's entrance exam day.
Year 4, 5 and 6
Entry to Prep 4, 5 and 6 is based on assessments in English, Mathematics, Reading and Spelling. Each of the papers is approximately 40 minutes in length. A report from the current school will also be required.
Once the assessments have taken place, we aim to confirm an offer of a place to your daughter within four weeks.
Places are offered on the basis of performance in the examinations and a report from the current school.
