What the Girls say

"When I first joined the Prep 3 Class 1 I was a little worried about how I would manage in the Junior School, but it’s almost the end of the year and I realise that I should not have been anxious at all! I have loved every minute of my time in Prep 3 and I love the different subjects in the proper timetable. I went to the French Club in Prep 2, but we now have French and Spanish every week with a different teacher. My form teacher is Miss Symonds and she has taken good care of me. I will miss her when I move into Prep. 4 in September. I have also loved playing netball , hockey and rounders this year."

"I started Farlington in Reception and I am now in Prep. 4. I love coming to school and playing with my friends. My favourite day is Wednesday. I arrive at school at 8.00 a.m. and go straight to the ‘Early Bird Club’. Miss Welsh is on duty on Wednesdays and she is always pleased to see me. At 8.15 a.m. I make my way over the music room to join the orchestra rehearsal. I play the violin and have been learning for nearly three years. We play with some of the older girls and they are amazing.

After orchestra practice I go back to my classroom for 9.00 a.m. when proper lessons start. I don’t have a favourite subject at the moment. I enjoy all of my lessons and I like P.E. and ICT. We have been using the Dazzle Programme and I really like working with the computers. I have also played in some netball matches against Burgess Hill, Cranleigh School and Duke of Kent."

"My time in Prep. 5 was amazing. I loved going to Hooke Court (a residential education centre) and having the Tudor banquet with all of the Tudor food and dressing up in period costume.

I have also loved cookery lessons in the Home Economics Room at school with Mrs Hawkins and making butter cookies, yum, yum ! I have had a brilliant time in Year 5 and I cannot wait until I move into Prep. 6 in September!"

"I joined the Prep. School at the beginning of the Summer Term and I have loved every minute. I thoroughly enjoyed al of the work and I particularly enjoyed the trip in June where we studied plants. This was at a place called Wakehurst Place where we went to the Seed Store and learned all about the different sorts of seeds. On the river trip we studied the River Arun and threw dog biscuits in the river to time how fast it was flowing. It was great fun.

The Swimming Gala was fantastic . I loved every minute! We all swam in the races and my House, Aylward, won!"

"In Year 5 I really enjoyed going to Hooke Court. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the Tudors. I enjoyed the banquet that we had because we could eat with our fingers which I’m not normally allowed to do. It was great fun and I enjoyed sharing a room with my friends. The dorms were excellent!

I love the P.E. lessons. The teachers are great and the sports lessons are fun. We play matches against other schools and I have enjoyed everything that we have done. Year 5 has been a brilliant year for me."

"My highlight of Prep. 5 is the Hooke Court Residential Trip. It was so much fun designing and making our own boat and sailing it across the pond. I especially enjoyed the Tudor banquet where we dressed up in Tudor costumes and re-enacted a great feast. I loved everything about the trip, but I was pleased to see my Mum when we arrived back!

I have also loved the art lessons in Prep. 5. I have loved painting parts of the Bayeaux Tapestry and copying this and putting my own face on one of the characters."

(Alberta Prep 5 July 2011)

"One of my favourite highlights in Prep. 5 was performing on the stage in the Prep. Production ‘The Stories of Scheherazade’. It was amazing fun singing the catchy tunes and I loved carrying my little lamp on stage. I can’t wait to see what Prep. 6 has in store and I am looking forward to having a main role in the Prep. Production, because when you are in Prep. 5 you always sing the chorus lines."

(Lucy Prep 5 July 2011)

"Thank you for an amazing seven years at Farlington Prep. School. I have learnt something new every day and I have enjoyed every single second. Each morning I have looked forward to coming to school. I always found the lessons interesting and entertaining, too! So as I move on to the Senior School and everything changes, I will always remember my time in the Prep."
