What we do and where we go
I love being in the Prep School. We have a proper timetable and we have specialist teachers for some of the subjects. In Year 3 we studied French and Spanish and had four PE/Games lessons with special Sports teachers. In Year 4 I remember playing in my first netball and hockey match against another School. It was quite scary, but I have now played in lots of matches and really enjoy them.
In Year 5 we started having Home Economics and Design Technology. I loved the cookery lessons and I am pleased that we’ll carry on with this subject in Year 7 next year. The Design Technology lessons have been interesting. I have designed a maze game using pieces of wood and a marble, a clock face and some puppets.
Moving into the final year of the Prep School is fantastic. I am finding the lessons exciting and I have started learning Latin. In Year 6 we sit on chairs in Assembly and help the staff to supervise younger pupils. We do prefect duties and help out on rainy days when we are sent to a specific classroom to help the teacher on duty.
I love the food at school and I must mention that you can have a salad choice from Year 5 onwards. That means that you can choose anything from the hot servery or the salad bar. There are always fruits and yoghurt available, but I like the hot puddings best.
In the Junior School we go on lots of interesting outings. In Year 3 I remember going to London to the British Museum to look at the Egyptian Rooms. In Year 4 I loved the trip to Shoreham Lifeboat and the Fire Station in connection with our Citizenship Course. Moving into Year 5, one of my favourite trips was the residential visit to Hooke Court in Dorset. We stayed there for two nights and studied the Tudors. We even had a Tudor banquet and we were allowed to eat with our fingers. That was really cool!
The annual trip to the Isle of Wight in June is the one which all of Year 6 really look forward to. I have heard that you go fossil hunting, visit Osborne House and take a ride in a chairlift down to the Needles at Alum Bay. There will be other trips, I think, to Windsor Castle and the Globe Theatre in London where we get to act on the actual stage. I can’t wait!
