Year Six

The curriculum for girls in the final year of the Prep School is exciting, stimulating and covers a broad and balanced range of subjects. In English, the girls study “Macbeth” as well as a variety of class texts, and they are encouraged to transfer their knowledge of texts into their own writing. In Mathematics, the girls are taught in ability sets and cover a wide range of topic areas.

All Prep 6 pupils sit the Statutory Assessment Tests (SATs) in English and Mathematics, and girls are prepared for the Senior School Scholarship examinations, completing several practice papers throughout the Autumn Term. All subjects are taught by specialist practitioners and we add Latin and Verbal Reasoning to the timetable, too.

Girls are able to work independently, which will include completing their homework assignments, using the skills they have learnt in ICT to aid them in all curriculum areas, and presenting their work neatly.

Prep 6 girls are given positions of responsibility to help with the organisation of the Prep School “Houses” and activities associated with them. They also take the lead parts in the annual Production.

Please follow the link to the Curriculum Overview for a more detailed summary of each subject area.
