Year Three
Prep 3 is the transition year from the Pre-Prep Department (infants) to the Prep (junior school). Your daughter will find this an exciting and challenging year, where there are many opportunities for her to develop her independence. The girls are taught primarily by their Form Teacher and they are introduced to specialist teachers for modern foreign languages (French and Spanish are studied) and P.E. There is a set timetable in contrast to the more fluid structure in previous years.
Girls will continue to be heard reading at school on a regular basis and there are numerous cross-curricular links to extend their creative writing. The girls enjoy writing in ink and we continue to help them to develop their own fluent, legible handwriting style. Weekly mental maths sessions, regular discussions and practical activities enable the girls to reflect on and consolidate their work in mathematics.
Information Communication Technology (ICT) is another exciting subject area which we continue to develop. Your daughter will learn keyboarding skills, she will be taught how to combine text and graphics, and she will be introduced to simple databases and email.
A wide range of topics is covered throughout the year in science, history and geography. Please follow the link to the Prep 3 Curriculum Overview for more detailed information on all subject areas.
