Experiencing WWII

Year 6 Experience Life During WWII

On 22nd May 2012, Year 6 took a step back in time and spent the day as evacuees. They were all very tentative and nervous at the start, wondering if Miss Welsh and Mrs Strivens would be as strict as they were on Victorian School day. They soon realised, however, that it was not going to be as scary and they went off to meet The History Man with great enthusiasm.

On entering the Hall they were surprised to see him in full military uniform and he certainly put them all through their paces, from learning how to go through a drill to dancing a jitterbug! They discovered what life was like during the war, the types of jobs that women had to do and what it must have been like to be a spy dropped behind enemy lines.

All in all, it was a splendid workshop.
