Welcome to the Farlington PTA website. At Farlington we are very fortunate to have an active and enthusiastic parent body, which we hope is reflected by a pro-active, inclusive PTA. The aim of this information is to give you a brief insight into Farlington’s PTA, who we are and what we do for the school. As a Farlington parent, you are automatically a member of the PTA body, and your support would be much appreciated.


What does the PTA do?

The role of the PTA is twofold – fundraising and of course a social element. Fundraising is crucially important for the school and is for the benefit of present and future pupils. It concentrates on providing items outside the curriculum that are not seen as ‘normal’ school purchases i.e. smaller items requested by the school or the girls directly, or indeed larger projects that the school and the PTA work towards jointly. Last year, and indeed most years, the PTA raised in excess of £10,000, and as a result of this we were able to fund opera workshops, wet play equipment and musical instruments, not to mention significantly larger items like the sound system for the school hall, the lighting for the all weather pitch and interactive white boards for the prep school. Fundraising is primarily achieved from a number of social events throughout the year which range from discos to the all important Christmas Fair held in November.

Our other remit is purely fun! Social events arranged by the PTA provide an opportunity to meet with other parents and indeed teaching staff. These range from small coffee gatherings within a class or year group to larger social events where you will have the opportunity to meet other parents and teachers. They are a great time to ‘swap notes’ and chat informally. For details of specific events please see ‘Diary dates’.
