Second Hand Uniform Shop

Second Hand Uniform Shop

The Uniform Shop has THREE aims:

  • To provide parents/guardians with a supply of good quality second hand uniform
  • To raise money for the PTA
  • To provide parents/guardians with an outlet for selling surplus uniform

and in doing so we are also supporting the school’s ECO programme by re-using and recycling items.

The shop is sited between the Medical Centre and the Textiles Room off the Old Courtyard. It is staffed entirely by parent volunteers and is open every Friday from 3.20pm to 4.20pm. The shop also opens on the first day of every new term from 8.15am to 9.00am and on specific dates during the school holidays, which are publicised in advance.

We also hold special sales for New Parents when they come along for the New Girl’s Tea.

The Uniform Shop is a significant contributor to the PTA’s fundraising, and generates around £5,000 every year (with an equal amount paid to parents).

Parents can buy most of the items on the uniform list, from blazers to hockey sticks - all at very reasonable prices and in very good condition. Payment can be made by cash or cheque.  The shop does not take credit or debit cards.

Proceeds are shared with 50% of the sale price paid to the seller and 50% to the PTA funds.  Cheques are issued to sellers at the end of each term for amounts due in excess of £10.  Cheques are issued at the end of each school year for any residual amounts between £5 and £10.  Amounts due at the end of the year of less than £5 are written off to PTA funds.

Items can be left for sale under the stairs beneath marketing.  Items should be clean and placed in a bag with your name, address, telephone number and daughter’s name and year group inside.

Items are priced taking into account the selling price for equivalent new items (e.g. School Blazer prices) and the condition of the items.

Items are sold on behalf of parents.  Once an item is sold and the vendor sales label removed the seller can no longer be identified.  The shop is therefore unable to take returns, exchange items or make refunds.

If you would like to volunteer to help in the shop please contact Paula Townsend at pta@farlingtonschool.net .
