Farlington Choirs
Choirs from Farlington School in Horsham were delighted to sing for the community in two very different events over the first weekend in December. The enjoyment and performance of music is very strong at Farlington and there are four large choirs within both the prep and senior schools.
The bandstand in the Carfax in Horsham was the venue for the first event with some rousing Christmas carols performed by members of various of the choirs to give the chilly shoppers some Christmas cheer. Song sheets were handed out to any passers-by wishing to join in and get in the festive mood.
On Sunday 5th it was an honour for members of Skatz (senior girls) and Farlingtonic (parents, staff and friends of Farlington) to be asked to perform at the Tree of Life Service held at K2 in Crawley. This annual service is held by St Catherine’s Hospice to give relatives the opportunity to celebrate at Christmas the lives of their loved ones who are no longer with them. It also gives the congregation the opportunity to thank and support the dedicated work done by the Hospice. The choirs sang as people gathered in the vast hall and as they left. During the service Skatz and some members of Farlingtonic performed a beautiful rendition of both ‘Memory’ by Andrew Lloyd-Weber and of the Candlelight Carol by John Rutter.
The choirs’ next performance will be at Farlington’s Carol Service on Monday 13th December at 7.30pm in St. Mary’s Church. Members of the public are warmly invited to attend.
