Faculty of Creative and Expressive Arts

"Creativity is a natural extension of our enthusiasm" Earl Nightingale.

The faculty of Creative and Expressive Arts plays a very important role at Farlington. Not only do we offer the subjects as part of the curriculum but they also form the major part of the extra-curricular activity programme. Girls are encouraged to develop their talents in all areas, both inside and outside the classroom and can take LAMDA (Drama), ISTD (Dance) and Trinity Guildhall (Music) exams in addition to GCSEs.

The Creative and Expressive Arts give the girls an opportunity to develop their own ideas in practical subjects, work individually and/or as part of a group or team, and to gain success and confidence as they progress in their chosen fields. There are many opportunities for girls to develop their skills including the School Productions, a variety of Music and singing groups and concerts, sports matches and House events where the girls work with older and younger members of their House.

It is important for pupils to take (safe) risks in a secure environment. They will grow and develop, become more confident of their abilities and learn through experimentation and researching the work of other practitioners in their chosen creative field. They will learn to work independently and identify their strengths as a team member. All the subjects in the Creative and Expressive Arts faculty will allow pupils to discover, explore and investigate new ideas. They will be encouraged by their peers and their teachers to try something new and to develop their ideas, both in School and in the wider community.
