Pastoral Care
“Pastoral care and guidance are excellent and make a very positive contribution to pupils’ personal development and their overall achievement”
(Independent Schools Inspectorate 2010)
Farlington’s emphasis on care and guidance in personal development is underlined in our pastoral system. Throughout the whole School all the teachers are particularly skilled at ensuring that the girls settle in quickly, become familiar with their surroundings and make new friends.
In the Senior School each girl is placed in a Tutor Group where she is given individual attention. Tutors liaise with Heads of Year, other members of the teaching staff, boarding staff (where appropriate) and parents. They monitor each girl’s welfare as well as academic progress and extra-curricular activities. Tutor teams are led by the Heads of Year and report to the Deputy Head.
A balanced Lifeskills programme is in place throughout the Senior School. We are committed to a programme designed to encourage awareness and participation in a healthy life style, where individuals are given the skills to enable them to make informed decisions. We also remain sensitive to the responsibility we have to place these issues within an ethical framework which supports the School’s Sex Education Policy.
