Geography

So many of the world’s current issues boil down to Geography. Take the time to glance at a TV news report or a newspaper and you are guaranteed to find the Geography we study here at Farlington! The subject is up-to-date, relevant and exciting. Geographers of the future are needed to help us understand and tackle the problems we face as a global community.

Geography is a valuable subject which deals with the major challenges facing us all in the future: coping with global warming, understanding the reasons behind migration, meeting the demand for energy resources, for instance.

Geography is a popular subject both nationally (230,000 young people studied Geography  at GCSE or AS/A2 last year) and here at Farlington.

Geography is known for its academic "robustness" and university Admissions Officers and employers value the knowledge and skills that studying Geography provides. The way in which we learn in Geography is exceptionally varied: from using ICT to carrying out fieldwork, from working in a team to finding out how the world works, and from communicating with others to planning research, no lesson is the same!
