Latin
"Latin helps create curious, intellectually rigorous kids with a rich interior world, people who have the tools to see our world as it really is because they have encountered and imaginatively experienced another that is so like, and so very unlike, our own." Charlotte Higgins, author of "Roman Love Lessons".
Latin and Classics encourage a positive and enthusiastic attitude from students and offers challenges as well as a variety of enjoyable group and individual activities. Learning is fun thanks to the use of ICT, which gives a fantastic visual means of acquiring Latin. As the root language for English, French and Spanish, all of which are studied at Farlington, the vast majority of technical and scientific words derive directly from Latin. Roman society and cultural issues, which accompany the learning of the language, help students to understand the Ancient World and its influences upon modern life.
