Textiles

If you have an interest in Fashion, Design or Interior Design, then A Level Textiles is for you! The course places a strong emphasis on the use of your creative skills and experimenting with colour, fabrics and techniques; you will build a varied portfolio to take to future interviews at university or Art college.

You will be taught new techniques and then produce samples for your work book, all of which provide a strong foundation for your own designs. You will also study the History of Design and write a 1000-3000 word personal study linked to your practical work on a fashion theme, concept, idea or skill, chosen by you to develop into a finished piece.

You will be encouraged to research through magazines and visits to exhibitions such as those at the V & A Museum, and the Clothes Show.

Many of our A level students choose to follow a career in Fashion & Design.  Those with strong Textiles portfolios achieve a place on degree courses, thereby by-passing a foundation course at further education.
